ROCKFORD (WREX) — A new church building is in town and it seeks to change the lives of Stateline youth.
The building belongs to Freedom "A Church Without Walls."
After working out of a college campus in Rockford, it finally stands alone.
"This is a kingdom of work being manifested through the glory of God," said Senior Pastor Kevin McGinnis. "And bringing them from the school to this church gives them a church and feeling in the presence of God."
McGinnis is a new pastor at the church too. He already is striving to help those that are less fortunate in the area.
"We're going to reach out to the poor," said McGinnis "We're going to engage this community and let them know that the church is here for whatever needs that they may have."
Michael Harrington, security guard at Freedom "A Church Without Walls", says that positivity has only grown stronger at the church.
"It's a wonderful feeling," said Harrington. "It comes from the heart. It comes from God."
Harrington adds that the church lends a helping hand to anyone that needs it.
"We're all here to help the ones that are on the streets," said Harrington. "We're going to try to get the youth going in the right direction."
A direction that Pastor Kevin McGinnis hopes to lead the way for his congregation.
"I pray that people will see that we're here," said McGinnis "Not just for service, but to help bless this community because there are a whole lot of individuals in Rockford who really need to have a personal intimate relationship with God."
Moving forward and hoping to change lives in Rockford.
Worship service is every Sunday at 12 p.m. at Freedom "A Church Without Walls." The church will have a pre-Thanksgiving service on Wednesday, November 24th at 6:30 p.m.
