Rockford Fire battles overnight restaurant fire

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Firefighters were called to a restaurant fire overnight.

The Rockford Fire Department says they responded to a fire at the Hooters location in the 6900 block of Argus Drive just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Crews found light smoke and had to saw open an inside wall to put out a small fire. Everyone inside the restaurant had escaped before firefighters got to the scene.

RFD estimates the damage to the building at $5,000. No one was hurt in the fire.

The fire is still under investigation. The restaurant will be closed until they can complete repairs.
