ROCKFORD (WREX) — About one hundred people met Tuesday night to talk about the next steps regarding the Bell Bowl Prairie.
The natural land institute is hosting two more public meetings before the expansion of the Chicago-Rockford Airport continues on November 1st.
The expansion will bring more jobs to the area, but the institute things there is a way to expand the airport while also saving the prairie.
The institute says the prairie is one of the only unique small portion of lands.
"It has unique birds, unique insects, unique plants, it has a unique system, this dry gravel prairie," Kerry Leigh, Executive Director of the Natural Land Institute said.
The next meeting is set for October 19th
