Police search for Rockford man in connection to crash that killed 16-year-old

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Rockford Police Department is searching for a man wanted in connection to an August car crash that left a 16-year-old East High School student dead.

Deahri Steele, 18, is wanted on one count of reckless homicide and one count of aggravated driving under the influence involving death, according to police.

The Aug. 26 crash killed Mason Hada, 16, an East High School student who was set to make his debut on the E-Rabs' varsity football team the next night.

Steele was driving a black Chrysler 300.
