BELVIDERE (WREX) – A couple of businesses in the Stateline took the time to recognize a group of veterans for their service in the armed forces.
Northwoods Care Centre and Heartland Hospice Care honored Vietnam2Now Honor Guard with a special ceremony. Heartland Hospice takes part in a program called We Honor Veterans, with the goal of improving end-of-life care for Veterans. So as part of the program, the business helps honor and recognize veterans both under their care and in the community.
“This is a good event that the community recognizes people for their sacrifices and especially in this day and age, we’re still at war in a lot of theaters around the world and people are making sacrifices on a daily basis and we don’t see that regularly,” said United States Air Force Veteran Roger Pelkey.
Heartland Hospice says it will also be taking part in a National Vietnam War Veterans Day event on March 29 at Loves Park City Hall.
