ROCKFORD (WREX) — Kids had a chance to learn on Halloween in Rockford.

The Burpee Museum held a scary science event on Sunday.

People could learn about crafty bats, taxidermy and even got to dissect real cow eyes.

Leaders at the museum hope the event gets people interested in science while bringing in new people to see all that the Burpee has to offer.

"We're trying to inspire love for science, and this is a perfect way to get into the scary stuff, but to also show why it's so cool to dissect something, or why it's so cool to stuff an animal," said Alex Merry, the museum's visitors experience manager.

The museum also kicked off a new exhibit on eastern African tribes that will be open until December.
