BELVIDERE (WREX) — You probably think a trip to the post office is just for buying stamps or sending mail, but one church member made an opportunity to do something nice.
"As I came in, I said to the person behind the counter, 'you think you might ever like help with the landscaping, pulling weeds out, sprucing things up and so on,'" says Bobbie Denhof.
Before you know it, the Belvidere Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints jumped into action to help freshen up the area around the post office on Saturday.
Several church members planted flowers and pulled weeds which all went to make leaders at the post office happy and proud of how the community supports one another.
"It says that we have a fantastic community here in Belvidere, and this community is probably one of the best in the area," says Belvidere Post Office Officer in Charge Russ Halie.
The church says it often looks for ways to help the community when members have the time.
