ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford is one step closer to having a stronger connection to the internet.

The city's Planning & Development Committee approved a new fiber optic network on Monday. The more-than-1,100 mile network would allow homes and businesses in the Forest City to get fiber connectivity, which would lead to additional services like more internet access. The city says this network will benefit everyone.

Rockford City Council will vote on the plan during Monday's meeting. For more information on the plan, click HERE.
