ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Rockford Police Department needs your help finding suspects involved in a string of burglaries.

The burglaries happened within a 12-hour stretch starting Monday night at the BP Gas Station in the 1600 block of Rural St.

Police say an alarm went off around 10:20 p.m. after the glass door was smashed by three men with rocks. Police say one of the men entered the gas station, took the cash register and left.

About a half hour later, police responded to a break-in at the Sandy Hollow Food & Liquor store for an alarm. Officers arrived on scene and found the glass door was smashed and people were inside.

Police say three suspects matching the description of the the BP break-in had removed numerous liquor bottles and then left the building.

The suspects left in a dark-colored sedan, police say.

The final burglary happened at the Shell Gas Station on S. Alpine Road around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday. Police say a side window was smashed out again.

Officers say three suspects entered the gas station and removed the bottom part of the cash register along with cigars.

Rockford police say the suspects appear to be the same as the two burglaries hours before. Surveillance photos were able to capture a picture of one of the suspects. Police say the two other suspects were also wearing dark clothing and masks.
