ROCKFORD (WREX) — The number of people in the hospital in Rockford due to COVID-19 has gone up.
As of Thursday, the three Rockford hospitals—Mercyhealth, OSF HealthCare Saint Medical Center and UW Health SwedishAmerican—were reporting 128 people in the hospital who had tested positive or are suspected of being positive for COVID-19.
This is an increase of last week's report of 92.
UW Health SwedishAmerican announced Friday they're renewing visitor restrictions as cases continue to rise.
Hospitalizations remain up across the state as health officials reported 1,759 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 350 patients were in the ICU and 152 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
Health officials reported 28,280 new confirmed and probable cases of the virus across the state since last Friday, Nov. 12.
