A network of eight hospitals and more than 50 ambulance services, rescue squads and fire departments, OSF Northern Illinois Emergency Medical Services (OSFNIEMS) serves a 10-county area in northern Illinois. As one of the largest Emergency Medical Systems in the state, NIEMS oversees emergency medical services for approximately 10,000 patients a year. The program provides basic and continuing education at various emergency medical technician (EMT) levels to over 1,000 EMTs who serve in their home communities. OSFNIEMS also works closely with over 100 community centers and businesses to support their public access defibrillator pro-grams.
