Freeport students will get to use Chromebooks this school year
FREEPORT (WREX) -
Students at Freeport High School will be get to work with some new technology this year.
Teachers are distributing Chromebook laptops to students. The goal is to get classrooms to go more digital. Teachers say another benefit is allowing entire classes to go paperless. The Chromebooks have already been tested and they're ready to distribute on the first day of school.
"This summer, we piloted the Chromebooks in our summer school and we found that our English teachers became paperless," FHS Principal Beth Summers said. "And for a former English teacher myself, to even dream of even being a paperless English teacher is just so 21st century that students and staff are very excited."
FHS will have 1,200 Chromebooks to distribute this year.
