Quiet weather settles in for a long stretch

Thursday's storms drenched the Stateline, but it won't take long until the area dries up again. Almost a week may go by before rain comes back.

High pressure settles in for several days in a row, keeping wet weather away. Until this quieting influence, the weather and temperatures remain very consistent. Each day from Friday through next Tuesday will be sunny, with high temperatures remaining near average. Highs stay in the low to middle 80's, which is typical for mid-August.

Rain showers and storms may return next Wednesday. So far, the month is on track to get average rainfall, as long as regular showers stay in the forecast on occasion. The summer's rain total is approaching 20", which would put this summer into the top 5 wettest on record.
