Gas line hit in Roscoe, neighborhood residents told to stay inside

Posted:
ROSCOE (WREX) -

A Roscoe village administrator is telling residents in a neighborhood to either evacuate or stay inside after a gas line is hit.

The gas line that was hit in the Denali Heights neighborhood is about four inches wide, according to the village leaders.

Village leaders say contractors were excavated a home when they hit a gas line.

Nicor Gas and Harlem-Roscoe Fire are on scene since 3 p.m. spraying on water on the leak to make sure it does not ignite.

Firefighters went door to door telling neighbors to stay in their homes. Crews expect to be on site for the next few hours to try to stop the leak from spreading.
