Winnebago has been a model of consistency under Mark Helm's direction as head coach.
The Indians have missed the playoffs twice in Helm's eleven seasons under the headset. That includes three straight appearances in the last three years. Now they hope to continue that trend of postseason football and will do it with experience in the trenches in 2018.
"You know we've got a lot of guys back from last year's team," Helm said. "There's a lot of knowledge of what we want to do on the field. We have to do it better to win more football games than we did last year."
"We have a really experienced line, pretty much all of our line played last year," says senior Tanner Inglima. "We've got lots of experience in the back field too. We have a new QB coming, but if you ask me he'll do just fine."
Helm added, "The guys understand what we want and right now they're working hard. It's always easier when you've got guys back with experience."
Winnebago's first test of the regular season is a road date with Byron in Week 1.
