Rockford's tourism bureau pushes forward for more murals
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is continuing its efforts to help make Rockford more beautiful by trying to get mural developed.
The bureau applied for a special use permit for a mural that would be located at 331 East State St. This is part of the organization's Forest City Beautiful initiative. RACVB plans on developing more murals if this particular one gets approved.
"It brings vibrancy to your community," RACVB Director of Destination Development Tana Vettore said. "It also elevates our appreciation for the arts, which has always been a core tenant for us that we believe that our communities and most vibrant communities are made up of high quality arts programs, and so this is to just add that layer of appreciation."
The permit will be discussed by the Rockford Zoning Board of Appeals on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
