Loves Park police warn parents to keep a close eye on social media after child pornography arrest

A Loves Park man who pleaded guilty to child pornography involving seven children.

37-year-old Grant Wojahn took a plea deal in his case. Prosecutors say he posed as a teenage girl on Facebook.  They say he contacted a 13-year-old girl and persuaded her to take sexually explicit pictures.  Prosecutors say Wojahn admitted he did the same thing to six other girls between the ages of 10 and 12.  He faces 30 years behind bars.

Loves Park Police want to warn parents to talk to their children about internet safety.

"Profile says I'm a 13-year-old boy or a 13-year-old girl and next thing you know it's a grown man on the other side," says Detective Robert Czech.

Czech says parents need to familiarize themselves with sites like Facebook and Twitter so they know how the site is used, and how their children is using it.  He says parents should talk to kids about the dangers of predators and tell them to never accept a friend request from someone they don't know. Police also say your internet access should be in a common room of the home.

""Children are children. They're going to explore, they're going to go other places on the internet and social media but I would be very strict with the social media usage if I was the parents."

Loves Park Police say they are also monitoring social media sites in their own investigations.
