SwedishAmerican Foundation Honors Organizations With Grants

One area hospital showed appreciation to those in the community who are doing just that.

The SwedishAmerican Foundation honored five stateline organizations by giving them a Caring for our Community Grant. The winners were announced on Wednesday at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Out of 25 applications, $75,000 was given to five local not-for-profit organizations based on the effect the organizations would have on Swedes' neighborhood and community.

"It lifts up where our employees work, where we live. Where we worship, where we play, where our kids go to school, so everybody wins," SwedishAmerican Foundation Director Laura Wilkinson said.

Here are the winners of this year's grants and how much each organization received:

  •          $17,000 to Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity to support its Midtown Home Rehabilitation.
  •          $16,000 to Youth Services Network to support its Parenthood Promise program.
  •          $15,000 to Stateline Youth for Christ to support its Juvenile Justice Ministry (JJM) program.
  •          $15,000 to The Salvation Army of Winnebago County to support “Shirley’s Place.”
  •          $12,000 to Mosaic for its durable medical equipment (DME) distribution program.
