Rockford native Fred VanVleet continues to garner accolades for his breakout season in the NBA. The Raptors guard is one of three finalists for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award. The other finalists are Lou Williams of the Clippers and Eric Gordon of the Rockets.
VanVleet was a key part of the NBA's best bench this past season, coming on strong in the second half of the season. VanVleet averaged about nine points and three assists per game, while also connecting on more than 41 percent of his three point shots.
The Auburn High School grad will become a restricted free agent this summer, meaning he can explore his options as a free agent, but Toronto would still have the ability to match any deal offered to VanVleet.
The NBA Awards show is scheduled for Monday, June 25, in Santa Monica, California. The show will air on TNT.
