Harlem has three girls going to this week's state track and field meet in four events. Olivia Lewis qualified in both the long jump and triple jump, Catie Daily qualified in discus, while Cloey Fare punched a ticket in the 100M hurdles.
Daily won the Sectional championship and had the third-longest discus throw in the state among all the 3-A Sectionals. She went to state last year, and looks to improve on last year's state performance.
"Last year I finished tenth which was one place out of a medal," Daily said. "Getting a medal this year would be a great improvement."
This is Fare's first time qualifying for state. The hurdler is seeing all her hard work pay off at the right time.
"What really motivates me is the team," Fare said. "Because they don't ever give up and they work so hard. What really motivates me is the family I have and they motivate me to do as best as I can do."
The 3-A girls state meet starts Friday, with the finals set for Saturday.
