WASHINGTON (WREX) -

Tens of thousands of people will gather at the National Mall in Washington DC to honor the lives of law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox is among those fallen officers. His name and details about his final watch will be read aloud during this ceremony.

13 WREX will be at that ceremony to bring you live coverage. You can watch it on our Facebook page, on our website at www.WREX.com/live, and you can tune in to 13 News at 10 for full coverage.

The candlelight vigil, a signature event held during National Police Week, will include musical tributes, special remarks and reading of the 360 names being dedicated on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Officer Cox was killed Nov. 5, 2017 during a traffic stop. Another man, Eddie Patterson, was also killed in that incident. An investigation in to what happened that night is still ongoing.
