Members of the Rockford community came together to help build a house.
It was part of National Women Build Week, which Lowe's and Habitat for Humanity created 11 years ago. Over the years, the organization has brought together more than 117,000 all-women construction volunteers to help build nearly 4,500 homes.
Event organizers say they were happy with the community members who came out Friday.
"Basically saying, women can do the same thing men can do," Lowe's Regional Distribution Center Supervisor Tiffanie Kinkade said. "It's not the best conditions here today, but it's nice to be able to empower women and give back to the community."
Lowe's donated $2 million this year to Habitat for Humanity as well.
