The 2017-18 school year is in it's final stages and the Parker Center held a safety night that gave families different perspectives on staying safe this summer. Local firefighters, police officers and paramedics spoke to kids about how to stay safe outside this summer.
Rockford Bicycle Company was also on hand giving out free bike helmets.
We tried to teach the stuff in school everyday and the more we can instill it in families, the more important it is for the students. Said Amanda Hayes, Parker Center's Principal.
13 WREX's own Alex Kirchner was also at safety night. He spoke to kids about being prepared when severe weather strikes.
