The Rock Valley softball team, chasing a fifth straight national tournament championship, is hitting its stride at the right time of the season.
The Lady Golden Eagles swept their doubleheader against Cuyahoga on Monday, winning 10-2 and 14-5 on a beautiful day for softball in the region. They are now 44-8, but they're not getting too far ahead of themselves just yet.
"They understand what the expectation is," says head coach Darin Monroe. "We don't talk about it too much, we want to get better day in and day out. We want to have quality at bats every time we're in the batters box, make defensive plays, and pitch strikes. When you do all those things, the expectations we have for wins, losses, and championships, they take care of themselves. We have to worry about ourselves, and if we do that, I think good things are in our future."
RVC will host the Region IV tournament in Rockford, starting this Friday at noon.
