UPDATE: The Rockford Police Department says their investigation into an explosion near Blackhawk Courts turns out to be a firework placed under a car.
According to police, officers responded around 9:40 a.m. to 1500 Birch Court for a call of an explosion. When officers arrived on scene they say they found a black Pontiac G6 parked near the intersection of Buckbee and Birch Court. Its rear bumper was damaged and lying in the street.
The department's bomb squad investigated the car and found a firework had been placed and exploded under the vehicle. The car sustained minor damaged and no one was injured.
Officers say they're searching for a white male who's 20 to 30 years old and drives a white older model Oldsmobile. If you have information call police at 815-966-2900
The Rockford Fire and Police Departments are responding to a possible car bomb situation at Blackhawk Courts.
On Thursday morning, crews responded to Buckbee and Barnes streets to investigation.
The area is blocked off and few details have been released.
