Friday's shooting prompts increased police presence at CherryVale Mall

The Cherry Valley Police department says it's stepping up its presence inside and outside the CherryVale Mall following Friday evening's shooting that left one person dead. 

While the department wouldn't say exactly how many officers are at the mall, it's urging anyone who sees something suspicious to call the police department right away. 

"Some people feel like they don't want to be a part of anything, but you can call anonymously to give any type of tips or if you see something you think an officer should check out, we would be happy to come take a look," says Sgt. Jesse Perse with the Cherry Valley Police Department.

That shooting happened around 4 p.m on Friday which lead to a large police presence in the parking lot near Macy's.  Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana told 13 News on Friday the victim was found shot to death inside a car and that a suspect was nowhere to be found.
