Families of missing loved ones speak out for the first time

Rockford Police are still searching for a Rockford mother, her boyfriend and estranged husband. Officials say they think foul play is involved.

On Monday, police were called to 22-year-old Danielle Son's home in the 800 block of 10th avenue in response to a missing person's report.

Danielle's family say that's where they found her two children a two-year-old and 11-month-old alone but unharmed. They had not heard from her since Saturday.

Later, police learned son's boyfriend 25-year-old Sergio Quiroz and her estranged husband, 26-year-old Hand Son, were also missing.

"They just disappeared into thin air almost," says Danielle Son's father, John Feldberg

That's how Feldberg describes the moment  he noticed his daughter was missing. He says she was supposed to drop her two children off at his house before heading to work Monday morning.

"This is something that happens to somebody else. Not to us and that's why it's so devastating because it's like out of character for her," Donna Lee Feldberg, Danielle's grandmother, says.

Donna Lee says the two always had a close relationship since Danielle was a little girl, from watching their favorite Facebook videos to enjoying a summer evening at the Rockford Speedway.

"She was a kind and loving person. She was an animal lover," Donna Lee says. "She loved everybody, pretty much everybody."

One of those people she loved was her boyfriend Sergio Quiroz, who is also missing. Sergio's family says they noticed something was wrong when the father of three didn't show up for work on Monday morning.

"He's a good guy when it comes to his kids," says Stacy Kellems, the ex-girlfriend of Sergio. "He provides for them, he puts in a 9, 10 hour day."

But, their disappearance comes with a lot of questions and few answers. That's why family members say they need the community's help.

"We just have this feeling that she's out there and she's trying to say, 'find me,' but we don't know where," Donna Lee says.

It's a plea for any information to bring home their friend, their daughter, their son, and a mother and father.

"There's five innocent babies that need their parents back," Kellems says.

Court records show Danielle and her estranged husband, Hand Son, filed for divorce just last week. Just before that, those records show hand was also charged with domestic battery.

We reached out to Rockford Police to see if he is considered a suspect at this time. They said they are not releasing any new information at this point. Anyone with information is asked to call the Rockford Police Department at 815-966-2900 or the investigations bureau at 779-500-6551
