Off-duty Chicago police officer killed in shooting

UPDATE: According to officials, the officer shot in downtown Chicago has died.
Multiple sources say the officer was a high-ranking member in the police department.
A Chicago police spokesman says an officer has been shot.
Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the off-duty officer was shot at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday while assisting a department tactical team at the state government office building in the downtown area of the city.
Guglielmi says the officer was transported from the James R. Thompson Center to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Guglielmi did not have any details about the shooting, the officer's name or the officer's condition. He says that Superintendent Eddie Johnson is on his way to Thompson center.
