The Rockford area saw the biggest snow storm of the season last week, and it cost the city of Rockford a pretty penny.
Public Works Director Mark Stockman says in 10 days, the city used about 6,000 tons of salt. The recent snowstorm took $306,000 out of the budget.
Since the first snowfall of the season, the city has used a total of 12,000 tons of salt and spent $612,000 on snow removal.
