The Illinois Department of Transportation has updates on road conditions after heavy snow falls overnight Thursday in to the Friday morning commute.
All across the Rockford region, highways are considered completely covered with ice or snow. That including Interstate 39, Interstate 88, Interstate 90 and arterial highways.

Plows have been working around the clock to clear roadways and pour salt. Locally, main streets in Rockford have been plowed, however they are still slick and partly covered. Side streets are completely covered.
The City of Rockford says crews are working on arterial routes while contractors are working on the residential ones. It will take approximately 12 to 14 hours for crews to get through neighborhoods. The city says first passes will be to get streets open even if snow isn't pushed all the way to the curb. Officials say they will return to streets for a second pass.
