Winnebago's only loss of the season came in a holiday tournament against the number one ranked 1-A team in the state, Aurora Christian. The 2-A number two-ranked Indians got their revenge Thursday night, winning 74-65, handing Aurora Christian its first loss of the season.
Ty Waller led the Indians with 27 points, while big man Andrew Morrissey added 26 points a couple of nights after scoring 44 against Rockford Lutheran.
Jake Wolfe scored 33 for the Eagles.
Things got heated in the fourth quarter after Waller landed hard going for a transition block. He appeared to exchange words with an Aurora Christian player after getting up, then another Eagles player stepped into Waller's path as he walked back down the court. The Aurora Christian player hit the ground when Waller bumped him with his shoulder, and Wolfe took exception to that, pushing Waller. The refs dished out double technicals, but cooler heads prevailed before Winnebago sealed the victory at the free throw line.
