Birthdays are a time to celebrate, especially when you've marked nearly a century on earth.
Bill Allen has lived through the Great Depression, World War II, the Vietnam War and 18 U.S. presidents.
Tuesday was all about celebrating his birthday. The Retired Men's Club held this celebration for Bill at the YMCA Log Lodge. We asked the newly 99-year-old what his secret was to a long life and he says his dad gave him some great advice.
"Dad said to me, 'Bill, never worry about death because it comes to everyone.' And he said we just don't know when. And dad lived until 86," Allen said.
Bill went on to say there's no trick to living to nearly 100 but joked that he ignores doctors.
