Jefferson uses 4th quarter comeback to beat East; Hononegah boys, Winnebago girls roll


Terry Ford got hot in the fourth quarter, helping Jefferson erase an 11 point deficit going into the final quarter and hitting the go-ahead three-pointer to lift the J-Hawks to a 45-44 win at East. Ford scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, as Jefferson chipped away at the E-Rabs' lead.

East had a 25-10 halftime lead as Jefferson struggled with its shooting. Quillin Dixon kept the J-Hawks in the game in the third quarter before Ford took over the fourth. The win leaves Jefferson a game behind Boylan in the NIC-10 standings.

Auburn drops into a tie for second place after losing 66-40 at Hononegah. The Indians continue to improve as the season progresses, getting strong efforts from Caleb Donaldson and Kameron Kolberg, among others.

The girls basketball Regionals are underway for the 1-A and 2-A playoffs. Winnebago is hosting a 2-A Regional and beat North Boone in a semifinal game to advance to the final. The Lady Indians will face Byron in the Regional title game, after the Lady Tigers beat Oregon in the other semifinal game. Big Northern rivals Byron and Winnebago just met last week, with Byron taking a 10 point win.
