A local group is bringing live storytelling to Rockford and it's all for free.
Our City, Our Story: Live is an event that will feature live storytelling for people to learn more about folks in our community. That event in just under two weeks will be free thanks to a donation from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois toward the Rockford Area Arts Council. Creators of Our City, Our Story say it's an experience you won't want to miss.
"When you have that type of connection it's something you could experience something over and over," Our City, Our Story Producer Pablo Korona said. "The fact that we are now having that in Rockford at this event, I couldn't be more excited because we all get to experience each other's story."
The first Our City, Our Story event will be on Feb. 17 at the Nordlof Center. Organizers are still looking for folks to tell their story. The theme is "That one time..." and anyone interested would have 8 minutes to tell their story live on stage. If you're interested in pitching your idea head to the event's website.
Local artist Joe Tallman created the poster for the event. Korona said more artists will have featured posters for the future events.
