Winnebago beats Lutheran in thriller

Andrew Morrissey and Kenny Strawbridge went basket for basket, with Morrissey finishing with 44 points and Strawbridge going for 37, but Morrissey's Winnebago Indians beat Strawbridge's Lutheran Crusaders, 86-74.

Strawbridge scored 25 points in the first half, helping Lutheran take a five point lead at the break. But Morrissey went to work in the third quarter, tallying 18 of his 44 points in the third, giving Winnebago a one point lead going into the final quarter. Another Winnebago senior, Ty Waller, helped put the game away with key plays down the stretch, including a big one-handed finish on an alley-oop. Winnebago moves to 21-1 with the win.

In NIC-10 girls action, Hononegah beat Harlem, 74-36, in a makeup game from Friday night.

The small school girls playoffs also tipped off this week. North Boone and Oregon both advanced with Tuesday night wins in the 2-A Winnebago Regional.
