Andrew Morrissey and Kenny Strawbridge went basket for basket, with Morrissey finishing with 44 points and Strawbridge going for 37, but Morrissey's Winnebago Indians beat Strawbridge's Lutheran Crusaders, 86-74.
Strawbridge scored 25 points in the first half, helping Lutheran take a five point lead at the break. But Morrissey went to work in the third quarter, tallying 18 of his 44 points in the third, giving Winnebago a one point lead going into the final quarter. Another Winnebago senior, Ty Waller, helped put the game away with key plays down the stretch, including a big one-handed finish on an alley-oop. Winnebago moves to 21-1 with the win.
In NIC-10 girls action, Hononegah beat Harlem, 74-36, in a makeup game from Friday night.
The small school girls playoffs also tipped off this week. North Boone and Oregon both advanced with Tuesday night wins in the 2-A Winnebago Regional.
