Girls Bowling Regionals Start Postseason Play


Defending IHSA state champion Harlem won the team regional championship at Freeport on Saturday as they begin defense of their girls bowling crown.

The Lady Huskies piled up more than 6000 pins to win the title and advance to sectionals. Rebecca Hagerman, Stephanie Richards, and Kayla Verstraete all posted scores above 1200 as they pursue a repeat for the Lady Huskies.

Guilford, lead by Megan Peterson's 1257, finished second as a team to advance, followed by Freeport and Belvidere as the four advancing squads to sectionals.

Other advancing individuals out of this regional are as follows, by school:

-Auburn: Caitlyn Bannister (individual champion, 1329 score)

-Belv. North: Kylie Johnson, Rachele Nelson, Brynn Lambrecht

-East: Tegan Peterson, Emily Binger, Georgiann Peeplos

-Hononegah: Ana Parma, Jordan Davenport

-Rockford Christian: Baylee Prock

DeKalb also hosted regional girls bowling action with local athletes advancing to sectionals. Sycamore, Dixon, and DeKalb sent their teams to the next round, with the Lady Spartans winning the team title.
