A Rockford man is being charged with attempted murder after police say he shot a man in the head early Saturday morning.
Rockford Police say officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 2800 block of Sewell Street around 12:15 a.m.
There, officers found a 56-year-old man who had been shot in the head.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police say a resident of the home told investigators that the victim was an intruder, and had broken into the home.
However, investigators say they later learned that the shooter knew the victim and shot him while the two were arguing.
Rockford Police arrested 56-year-old Phillip Tucker Jr. He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of bond.
Tucker faces charges of attempted murder, along with aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.
