Auburn High School students gave a warm welcome to exchange students visiting from overseas.
Auburn and Thurgood Marshall School will host students from China until Feb. 9 for a cultural exchange program. The first group of students arrived Saturday, and more arrived Monday. In all, Rockford will host 40 students and four teachers.
It's all part of offering a global experience for RPS 205 students.
"Even though they go to such a diverse school here at Auburn, they are still from Rockford. They are still from America. Really, there's a cultural difference they get to see. And then they get to see we're all human beings," says Maggie Kasicki, vice president of Modern Counseling International.
Events for the students are scheduled all week, and include a trivia night and Chinese calligraphy lessons.
