Boylan girls basketball's perfect season remains intact after a thrilling comeback on the road at Hononegah on Saturday, winning 48-45.
In their only regular season meeting, the Lady Titans and Lady Indians brought matching 11-0 conference records to the court in Rockton. Unsurprisingly, the gym was packed to capacity and delivered an electric, playoff-like atmosphere for a conference title matchup between the NIC-10's best.
Bringing a 25-24 lead into the second half, Hononegah roared to a 41-31 lead, anchored by Jordan King's 20-point effort. However, Ashley Reyes brought some momentum for Boylan into the fourth with a buzzer-beating floater that cut the deficit to 41-35.
The Lady Titans' trademark defense shut down Hononegah in the fourth, ending the game on a 17-4 run, turning that 41-31 deficit into a 48-45 victory. Brooke Eshleman came up clutch down the stretch, hitting a pair of go-ahead threes from the same corner to help Boylan come away with a hard-fought win.
Boylan improves to 12-0 in conference play, and owns a 24-0 record overall as one of the top-ranked teams in 4-A in Illinois.
