Hononegah Wins Boys Bowling State Championship

For the fourth time in five years, the IHSA boys bowling state champions hail from the NIC-10 as Hononegah won this year's title by 420 pins.

The Indians won the 2014 championship, but were runners-up each of the last two years under Brad Sommer. This year, Hononegah would not be denied the crown at O'Fallon.

Reigning WREX Athlete of the Week Nick Sommer won the individual state championship with 2,715 pins, two more than Bolingbrook's Alex Acosta, who won individual silver.

Freeport and Harlem represented the NIC-10 in strong fashion as teams - the Pretzels were the second-best team behind Hononegah, with the Huskies finishing fifth. Freeport's Julian Dyson had the fourth best individual score of the tournament, with teammate Ty Collalti in seventh individually.
