The Byron boys basketball team earned a big win in the Big Northern standings on Tuesday, defeating Lutheran, 78-75.
Until the start of the fourth quarter, the Crusaders were motoring thanks to a monster night from former 13 WREX Athlete of the Week Kenny Strawbridge. He had all 12 of Lutheran's points in the first quarter, 28 of their 36 halftime points, and scored 36 after three quarters.
However, the Tigers started the final frame on an 8-0 run and never looked back, holding Strawbridge to just four points in the last eight minutes. He finished with 40, but it wasn't enough in the Byron victory.
Byron is now 5-1 in conference, as Lutheran drops to 4-1 behind undefeated Winnebago and Rock Falls in the BNC standings.
