Stateline Police move forward with investigation into gun store burglaries

Investigators issue search and arrest warrants in connection with several gun shop burglaries in the Stateline.

This weekend, Belvidere Police along with Rockford Police SWAT, Loves Park Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms searched a home in the 3300 block of Sablewood Dr in Rockford.

During that search, officials say they found several pieces of evidence.

Investigators have also issued a search warrant for another suspect in the case, a young man under the age of 18.

This arrest warrant comes just three days after a 17-year-old was arrested outside Big Linny Gun Shop, during an attempted break-in.

Investigators say it was the third attempted robbery at the gun store this month. However, officials say it's unclear if all the break-ins are connected.

The second juvenile suspect faces multiple charges including burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Officials say they expect more arrests as their investigation continues.

Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to call the Belvidere Police Department at 815-544-2135 or the Boone County Crime Stoppers at 815-544-7867.

Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest.
