Fred VanVleet's Career Night Fuels Raptors' Blowout of Cavs

Rockford native Fred VanVleet put together the best game of his young NBA career in the national television spotlight, leading the Toronto Raptors to a 133-99 blowout of the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

VanVleet set a new career-high with 22 points, making 8 of 11 attempted field goals and 6 of 8 three-pointers. He added 4 assists and 4 rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench, accumulating a +28 rating. His team-high scoring output was only eclipsed on the court by LeBron James' 26 points for the Cavs.

The Auburn and Wichita State graduate has made major strides as a second-unit contributor for the Raptors this season, but was called into extra reserve duty against Cleveland with Kyle Lowry out with an injured tailbone. He had 13 points at halftime as Toronto built an insurmountable lead.

At 29-11, the Raptors own the second-best record in the East behind the Boston Celtics (34-10). Toronto's next test is a big one - they host the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors on Saturday at Air Canada Centre.
