Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato along with Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea announce 57 charges for three different criminal investigations in Rockford.

Those charges stem from two different murders and one drug-induced homicide.

July 2017 Drug-Induced Homicide Incident:

On July 28, 2017 authorities responded to an area on 15th Avenue and found Jessica Spiller dead in the alley. An autopsy revealed she died of a cocaine and fentanyl drug overdose.

On Thursday, Bruscato and O'Shea announced 44-year-old Willie James Walton is charged in her death, and now faces counts of drug-induced homicide, delivery of a controlled substance and concealment of a homicide. The charges came after Walton was already in custody for November 2017 aggravated battery charges.

October 2017 Murder:

Bruscato and O'Shea also announced a warrant for 47-year-old Marcus Spates, a suspect wanted for the shooting death of Isaiah Starks. Authorities say that on Oct. 5, 2017, Rockford Police responded to a shooting at Cole Avenue. There, they found Starks and transported him to an area hospital where he later died.

Also on Thursday, authorities announced 12 first degree murder charges against Spates — a crime that carries at least 20 to 60 years in prison.

Spates is not in custody and is considered armed and dangerous.  ?

Another man, 41-year-old Jaimie Spates is also charged in the death.

July 2013 Murder:

Authorities all say they are looking for two suspects in a 2013 Fourth of July shooting death. Authorities say Shazariyah Hibbett and Johny McFadden murdered Semarin DuBois on July 4, 2013 at South Henrietta and S. Green streets during a fireworks celebration. They face first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and mob action charges.

Both suspects are wanted on a $3 million warrant and are considered armed and dangerous.
