New stoplights just went up in Rockton despite a flood of controversy.
The lights went up at the intersection of S. Blackhawk Blvd. and Main St. They replace old stop signs that used to be there. Last year a group of residents and business owners spoke out about the lights. They started a Facebook page trying to gather enough opposition for them. The group said the lights would ruin the character of the village and threaten downtown businesses.
The lights are part of a major construction project in the village that also saw a large stretch of road repaired in town.
