Chicago zoo sees record attendance at holiday light festival
CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo says more than half a million people attended this year's holiday light festival.
In a news release Wednesday the zoo says the 23rd annual ZooLights festival set a record for attendance, with nearly 590,000 people. That's an increase of more than 20 percent over last year, due partially to the zoo extending the event into the new year.
The 35-day event started Nov. 24, with the highest attendance to date for the festival's opening ceremony.
ZooLights featured more than 2.5 million light bulbs on more than 30,000 light strands as well as visits from Santa and live ice sculpting.
