The Belvidere Police Department and federal authorities are investigating after two burglaries to a local gun shop on the city's south side.
Police say the first incident happened Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Big Linny Firearms, located at 485 Southtown Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered forced entry to the front of the business.
Then on Monday, Jan. 8, police say they responded to another burglary alarm at Big Linny Firearms. Police say there was limited entry to the building during this incident. Witnesses on the scene described a late 1990s to early 2000s "boxyey" red vehicle with a broken passenger window and red muffler as a suspect vehicle.
Officials are searching for three people, ages 18 to 25, between 160 pounds, wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts. They fled the scene before officers arrived.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
