A Beloit man will go to federal prison after he's sentenced on a number of guns and weapons charges.
Jeremy Howard, 31 of Beloit, was sentenced to 7 years in prison for the following charges:
— Possessing marijuana with intent to distribute
— Possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
— Violating terms of supervised release
Howard pleaded guilty to these charges on Oct. 25, 2017, according to court records. The plea came after Beloit police found marijuana, cocaine and a loaded firearm in Howard's car on July 31, 2017. At the time of his offense, authorities say Howard was on federal supervised release for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
A federal judge said today his sentence reflects the serious nature of the crimes and Howard's failure to better his life while on supervised release.
