Bears Introduce New Head Coach Matt Nagy

LAKE FOREST -

The Chicago Bears formally welcomed new head coach Matt Nagy to the organization on Tuesday, introducing the new bench boss to the media at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

Nagy is tackling his first head coaching gig in the National Football League after serving under Chiefs head coach Andy Reid in various positions on offense, most recently as offensive coordinator. Nagy praised general manager Ryan Pace and the Bears front office for their faith in his ability.

"These guys have given me an opportunity to give my best, and to show them who I am. I refused, I worked too hard to let them down. Good, bad, or indifferent, if it didn't happen, it didn't happen, but it did happen. We connected, and it was a really good thing," Nagy said, addressing reporters.

Nagy acknowledged his role as second half play caller in last week's Chiefs loss to the Titans in the AFC Wild Card, but he's putting that recent performance behind him, focused on a fresh start in Chicago.

"To feel hurt and at a loss is okay, but when you wake up in the morning, it's a new day. The sun comes up," Nagy said.

The 39-year old is the fourth youngest head coach in the NFL, and now takes over a roster that features a prized commodity - a young quarterback to develop. Mitch Trubisky enters his second year in the league with his second head coach.

"I know a lot about him because I had him at the combine, and we spent some time with him," Nagy said. "But this is a team game, everyone on this team is just as important as the quarterback."
