Rockford Police respond to robbery at Associated Bank

The Rockford Police Department responded to a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon at the Associated Bank on Center Terrace in Rockford.

Police say the call came in around 3 p.m. Tuesday. They say a suspect approached a bank teller, showed a threatening note, and demanded cash. Authorities say the note implied the suspect had a weapon, although no weapon was displayed. Police say the teller complied, and the suspect took off heading east with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say nobody was injured in this incident.

Officers describe the suspect as a black make in his 40's, standing 6'1" and weighing 250 lbs.  At the time of the incident he was wearing a red hat, sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and a white mask (similar to a surgical mask) covering his face.

The FBI and Rockford Police are investigating.
